Routine Appointments

Appointments may be made by telephoning the Surgery,by calling in at the Surgery or online following registration for the patient access service. Routine appointments should be available with a Doctor or Nurse Practitioner within 48 hours and can be made up to six weeks in advance.
If you are unable to keep your appointment please advise the Surgery as soon as possible, so that we have an opportunity to offer that appointment to someone else.
Telephone number for appointments at St Mary’s Surgery 015394 88484
Telephone number for appointments at Staveley Surgery 01539 821341
All telephone calls are automatically diverted through to St Mary’s between 08.00 a.m. and 09.00 a.m.

The surgery offers evening surgeries with a GP once weekly, which run from 6.30pm, to improve access for those patients who are working. Please note that no procedures (vaccination, minor surgery, coil fittings etc) can be carried out in these surgeries.

Emergency Appointments

Emergency Appointments should only be requested for conditions of a serious nature that cannot wait for the next available routine appointment. Emergencies will always be seen on that day, but the appointment may not be with the doctor of your choice.

Home Visits

If you are too ill to come to the Surgery and need to be seen at home, please let us know as soon as possible after 8.30a.m. so that the Doctor can organise the day around surgeries and home visits.
The receptionist will ask you if you are able to come to the surgery, as the facilities are better than at home, and we can see three or more patients in surgery for each patient we see at home.
A doctor will be available to speak to you between 8.00a.m. and 6.30p.m. on Monday to Friday, which are defined as the core hours. The Surgeries are closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Staveley Surgery’s telephone is available for appointments after 09.00a.m. Before this time all calls are answered by St Mary’s Surgery

Patients can request to speak to a doctor or nurse during the working day. If the doctor or nurse is consulting in a surgery at the time they may be asked to ring back later when that practitioner is available. A contact telephone number may be requested, so that the doctor or nurse can return the call.
